Exploring the Best Dive Sites in Thailand

If you're looking for a quality diving liveaboard holiday from which to explore the underwater beauty girding the tropical islands of Thailand, the Scuba Explorer is an excellent choice. We offer good food, excellent service, superb accommodation, and of course, fantastic diving. You can read what previous guests thought about their liveaboard holidays aboard the Scuba Explorer on our Customer Testimonials page.

The M/V Scuba Explorer has a length of 36.8 meters and a width of 7.8 meters, making her one of largest, and perhaps THE largest, steel-hulled liveaboards diving the Andaman Sea. She was designed with a Japanese eye toward quality, and completed in 2004, a year before the tsunami. During the peak season, the Scuba Explorer visits the Similan Island National Marine Park, Koh Bon, Koh Tachai, Richelieu Rock, and the Surin Islands. In the 'green' season, we travel to the Koh Tao / Koh Samui region to provide quality liveaboard experiences for those wishing to see what the Gulf of Thailand has to offer. You can learn more about Samui Diving here.

Diving off the Boat
Despite her size, the M/V Scuba Explorer is very maneuverable; scuba divers are usually dropped off and picked up by the main boat, and with dinghy assistance when necessary. The enormous dive platform ensures easy entries and exits, making diving with the M/V Scuba Explorer not only safe, but easy. And since the diving deck is huge, you'll never feeling cramped while preparing for the next dive.

All of the dives on our cruises are day dives. For those who are not keen on Night Dives, you need’nt worry about paying for dives you don’t plan to do.  This is not to say we don't do Night Dives, we do. In fact, for those who enjoy the excitement of diving in the black, we have Night Dives as optional dives on two of the diving days. Please check out our Itinerary for more information.

Accommodations and Meals
The M/V Scuba Explorer has a total of four decks including the sun deck, providing ample space to relax and enjoy the natural beauty of the marine landscape. The boat has 12 cabins and can accommodate up to a maximum of 24 divers. We offer a variety of accommodations, including Suites, Deluxe Rooms, and Standard Rooms. Learn more about our Accommodations here.

Our air-conditioned indoor Lounge is the social center of the ship. It's where we hang out between dives and in the evenings. It is equipped with a video projector, DVD/CD player, PC, and printer. In the evenings, this area can turn into a wide screen theater for movie night, or be a platform for you to display your underwater photography skills. If you've captured a fantastic shot, please don't be shy to share it with the rest of us!

The Lounge is also the place where we have our buffet-style meals. Every meal has several dishes, usually with a leaning toward Thai cuisine, but we also offer Western fare, especially for breakfast. To add more variety, one or two of the meals will also feature popular Japanese food, usually Japanese style 'curry rice' during lunch, and 'soba' at breakfast. However, our cuisine highlight is, without a doubt, our barbeque.

After your last dive, you'll enjoy our evening BBQ Party. This is where all concerns of decompression sickness disappear and the alcohol flows freely. The entire staff and crew join in for an all-around good time. If you'd like to see photos of the boat you can go to the About the Boat page or our Boat Tour Slideshow.

Benefits
One of the many benefits of diving off the Scuba Explorer is timing. Our departure and return schedule is optimized for those who want to do a lot of diving but also want to maximize vacation time. All trips depart in the evening, allowing you to fly in on the same day, without worrying about booking a hotel. And, since the cruise returns in the morning, you can even fly out on the same day, without worry about decompression sickness and no-flight time. Check our Schedule here.
